Don’t get me wrong I love playing cards. I compete in everything from Blackjack to Poker to Bridge. You name it and I play it. My issue, though, is that I am not a good online gambler. I can go to Atlantic City or Vegas and close shop in only a matter of hours, but for some reason online gambling and I don’t work out so well. I’ll tell you why.

When I’m playing online, I tend to lose all my control and normal poker instincts. I feel that because I’m behind a computer screen, I can bet as much as I want, whenever I feel betting. This is probably because I don’t have the normal gambling, Vegas-like surroundings that keep me in bounds and in check. I tend lose lots of dough that way.

One time, I was playing a small number of rounds of Texas on some random gambling site. Four hours into the game I was down 2,000 dollars but I kept going. I was in that poker room for another three hours and I had lost another grand. Usually, if I was in Vegas, I would know when to cap it, but I couldn’t control myself online. My frustration when losing was all contributing heavily to my losses. It was a vicious cycle.

Another problem with online gambling is that if you have a rather slow internet connection, like I do, you have to deal with the constant reconnecting, booting, lagging, etc. Imagine playing a game like “Counterstrike″ or “World of Warcraft” while having a bad connection, it’s nearly impossible. I usually try to go to an Internet Caf or something where the connection is faster.

It also lacks all personal interaction. There′s nothing like playing poker with a group of guy, sippin′ on some brews, and talking about ladies. It’s also great to see the poor sucker sitting across from you on Vegas with the big breasted babe get face-planted by my royal flush. Boom!

Be careful not to go bankrupt doing online gambling
